A free yet reliable invisible web tracker, highly configurable hit counter for real-time detailed web stats. Insert a simple piece of our code on your web page or blog and you will be able to analyse and monitor all the visitors to your website in real-time.
- Register an account (which is free)
- Create a Project
- Insert the code on your website (use a web editor like Dreamweaver to copy and paste this small piece of HTML code into your pages)
- Analyze your stats!
Google Analytics
As well as Statcounter, I also use Google Analytics. It's free to use and, being Google, setting it up and using it is very intuitive. It involves much the same procedure as Statcounter in that you have to insert a snippet of HTML into your web pages. You can open a Google Analytics account as part of your overall Google account (you have set up a Google account by now, haven't you?)
HyperTracker for Tracking Advertising Effectiveness
If and when you buy advertising or set out on any kind of publicity campaign you'll want to be able to measure the effectivess of that campaign, and perhaps compare it to other methods to work out your return on investment (ROI). ROI is important as it will tell you whether or not it is worth while trying a particular advertising or publicity method.
Statcounter is all very well for a general picture, but to test individual campaigns you will need something more rigorous. To test all my campaigns I use HyperTracker. You can get an account for $14.95 a month for unlimited campaigns, and you can test each campaign in as much detail as you like.
With HyperTracker you can see which marketing campaigns are working and, more importantly, which are not, and dump them! The suppliers say you can save up to 90% of your advertising costs by doing this. There's a 14 day free trial.
